The purpose of Liberation Fest is to create a space for emerging Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) youth leaders ages 11 - 19 to celebrate community strength, resistance, creativity, and joy. Liberation Fest is intended (a) to provide emerging BIPOC youth leaders an opportunity to connect with racially, ethnically, and gender diverse peers and (b) to create an opportunity for youth to feel valued, heard and empowered to work with others to better their community. The larger aim of the project is to build a sustainable community-university initiative that is BIPOC youth-focused and centers community voices and vision.
